Raised in a "real estate family" in Richmond, Virginia, William Zimmer attended The College of Charleston. Beginning his career in Charleston he started a clothing line and opened a successful clothing boutique and barbershop. Zimmer sold his interest in 2015 and moved back to Richmond and launched into real estate sales with Long and Foster.
